This hybrid online and face-to-face event welcomes media and wine professionals from across the country.

Co-Chairs Rob Alstrin and Jessica Endsworth Auction (April 14, 2021; Portland, Oregon) – The Willamette Valley Winery Association (WVWA) has announced that the sixth annual Willamette : This year’s Pinot Noir auction will take place as a hybrid face-to-face and online event on the 5th. Return in August 2021. The auction will be the first WVWA event in more than a year where attendees can sample in person.

The auction, chaired by Jessica Endsworth, national sales director for Northwest Wine Company, and Rob Alstrin, president and CEO of Adelsheim, will highlight the 2019 vintage with 85 lots of pinot noir from top Willamette Valley producers and seven lots of chardonnay from current and past auction presidents. All wines are unique, produced in quantities of only 5, 10 or 20 cases and are exclusive to the auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit WVWA’s branding, marketing and education programs, and in 2021, a portion of the proceeds will go to a charitable partner. The esteemed Fritz Hutton will be auctioneer again this year.

The 2019 cooler was a return to the classic Willamette Valley vintage, which produced delicate, structured and complex wines with exceptional aging potential, Endsworth says. These are old collectors, and dealers will want to get their hands on them, Alstrin says.

The in-person portion of the 2021 auction will be held at the WillaKenzie Estate and access will be limited, with social distance protocols and in accordance with applicable District policies. The auction will also be a major virtual event, with live online auctions and a virtual preview week from September 26-30. July 2021. Virtual auction participants will have the opportunity to view the wines from the auction lots in intimate winemaker panels.

WillaKenzie Estate is ready and excited to invite professionals to the Willamette Valley for this year’s auction, says former auction co-chair and Jackson Family Wines Oregon Vice President Eugenia Keegan. The Willamette Valley Wine Association has not only worked closely with government agencies and consulted experts to prepare our open spaces and ensure everyone’s safety, but has also spent the last 12 months preparing to welcome visitors back.

Participation is limited to licensed wine vendors, including retailers, restaurateurs and wholesalers. The number of participants in this year’s auction will be extremely limited, in accordance with local regulations, to ensure the safety of all. The Willamette Valley Winery Association will work closely with state agencies to ensure safety protocols are strictly enforced according to best practices. Sample lots are available for registered bidders who cannot attend the auction in person.
