The name of the Mount Veeder winery has been changed to Brandlin Estate, and a new website has been launched. The re-branding was initiated by new owners and takes inspiration from the winery’s original name, Brandlin, while balancing the Brandlin family’s historic tie to the central coast winery.
NAPA VALLEY, MOUNT VEEDER, CA. – 27. April 2021 – Brandlin Estate is pleased to announce that Brandlin Winery will be renamed Brandlin Estate in the future to reflect the focus on the wines produced at the 95-year-old vineyard located in Mt. Veeder to cultivate. To promote Brandlin Manor’s new name and storied history, the winery recently launched a new brand image, including a redesigned website, new packaging and new labels. Brandlin Estate will begin rolling out its new brand image with the national launch of the 2018 Brandlin Estate Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon in May 2021.
The history of the Brandlin estate began in the 1870s, when the Brandlin family emigrated from Switzerland. Their alpine heritage led them to create an estate on Mount Veeder, and soon the family was growing orchards, operating a local grain elevator and a stagecoach. In 1926, Henry Brandlin added viticulture to the list of family businesses when the first vines were planted on the Brandlin estate. In 1998, Henry’s son Chester passed the legacy of the 170-acre estate to Two Estates Wine Collective (formerly known as Cuvaison Estate Wines) and its owners, the Schmidheiny family, who, like Brandlin, hail from Switzerland and are a family of several generations of grape growers and winemakers. Thus, in its 150-year history, the Brandlin estate has been managed by only two different families. On this basis, Brandlin Estate has made a name for itself as a producer of some of Mount Veeder’s most famous mountain wines.
As Brandlin Estate approaches its quarter century under our stewardship, we felt that the name change was an appropriate and meaningful way to celebrate the Brandlin family’s continuing legacy, while demonstrating our commitment to producing Mt. Veeder, says Dan Zepponi, president and CEO of Two Estates Wine Collective, which owns Brandlin Estate in Mt. Veeder, as well as Cuvaison Winery in the Los Carneros AVA in Napa Valley. We also saw the name change as an opportunity to redesign our website, labels and packaging to emphasize the unique and majestic nature of Mount Veeder and convey the true sense of place that characterizes our mountain wines.
Brandlin Estate’s new website has been designed by renowned branding agency Affinity Creative Group to be optimised for mobile devices. It offers an intuitive user interface with an e-commerce system, as well as information about the history of Brandlin and its famous winery. In addition to the new name Brandlin Estate, the winery’s elegant labels and packaging, also designed by Affinity, feature a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Brandlin Mountain logo. The labels will be released during 2021 for the new varietals for all Brandlin Estate wines and feature a geometric representation of Mount Veeder, created with parallel lines that elegantly represent rows of vines in the mountains.
Brandlin’s vineyard on Mount Veeder is spectacular and important to the history of Brandlin’s winemaking, says Cynthia Sterling, creative director of Affinity. The new descent sign is a tribute to the vision and dedication it takes to tackle the challenging mountain terrain of Mt. Bucket of grapes to grow. The new badge is illustrated in a modern style and is combined with classic typography to create a fresh and timeless label.
