Groundbreaking Program to Aid Restaurant and Hospitality Workers Launches in Response to COVID-19

The Grape and Spirits Women’s Foundation provides 24-hour support from experienced physicians, financial experts and advocates.

January 26, 2021 (New York, NY) – Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. 501(c)(3) – The Women of the Vine Industry and Spirits (WOTVS) charity has launched a groundbreaking outreach program in response to COVID-19 that provides medical, financial and legal assistance to workers in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Groundbreaking Program to Aid Restaurant and Hospitality Workers Launches in Response to COVID-19

The WOTVS Foundation, which awards scholarships to women to advance their careers in the food, wine, beverage, beer and hospitality industries, was challenged to find an innovative solution to help those in need. Normally, these types of benefits are paid by the employer, but due to the pandemic, many professionals in the industry have been laid off, put on unpaid leave or worked fewer hours, leaving them without any support in need.

To provide quality services and benefits to those most in need, the POTS Foundation has chosen ComPsych Corporation, a leading global provider of fully integrated EHR, behavioral health, wellness, work-life balance, HR, FMLA and absence counseling under the GuidanceResources® brand. ComPsych GuidanceResoures® key services include short-term counseling, referral, finance, retirement, legal assistance, family, child and elder care, and critical incident response, and more.

Through a toll-free 24-hour number and world-class portal, policyholders (and their families) have access to confidential support from experienced physicians, financial experts and attorneys, as well as industry-leading self-service tools and resources.

Restaurants and hotels are among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Many of our colleagues are experiencing increased stress, anxiety and worry, said Deborah Brenner, president of the WOTVS Foundation and founder and executive director of WOTVS. Providing people with a direct link to counselors, professionals, financial and legal advisors and valuable resources to address all of life’s challenges is an essential step in healing those on the front lines and helping our industry recover.

Thanks to a generous donation from Love, Tito’s, the philanthropic arm of Tito’s Hand Vodka, a WOTVS member company and philanthropic donor to the WOTVS Foundation, the program received the necessary funds to launch. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon acceptance, applicants will be registered and receive the POTS Foundation support program by the 31st. January 2022. Donations are being accepted to expand the program to more people in the United States and to expand it internationally.

The effects of the pandemic continue to cause tremendous stress for workers in the hospitality and food industries, according to Lisa Huddleson, Director of Strategic Philanthropy at Tito’s Handmade Vodka. We are honored to partner with WOTVS on this program and we are doing all we can to support our friends in the service industry in their time of need.

Applicants must have been employed in the restaurant and/or hotel industry for at least three years or be currently unemployed, on unpaid leave or working reduced hours, and have worked for at least three years prior to their current unemployment situation. Professionals should check with their recruiter to see if their company offers an employee assistance program. Applicants must be residents of the United States. ComPsych is the largest EAP provider in 170 countries. We would like the Women of Wine and Spirits Foundation to offer this program internationally in the near future. Registration takes place each year with a registration deadline of 1. February 2021 to February 31. January 2022.
