Cooper and Thief Red Blend Wine Cooper and Thief Red Blend is a Cooper and Thief Cellarmasters wine aged in a bourbon cask in Lodi, California, USA.

The mixture contains 38% Merlot, 37% Syrah, 11% Zinfandel, 7% Petite Syrah, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% other red varieties.

Wow, wow, wow. There is a lot of variation in the mix!

But does this add to the complexity of the wine or does it distort the taste of Bourbon?

Well, let’s see…

Overview of the red wine mix of the cooper and thief

According to the label on the bottle, the wine has been aged for three months in Bourbon whisky barrels to obtain a more complex, smoother and rounder wine.

In this sense, I have tried in the past to taste wine that had matured in bourbon barrels, which was smooth.

Cooper and Typhoon refer to the taste profile of this dark wine and a jam with hints of fried vanilla.

Here’s another quote from the bottle label:

Cooper and Dief is a rich wine with warm vanilla aromas and subtle notes of herbs.  It’s smooth around his mouth like a gourmet bourbon.

And another thing… This magazine is in fact based on the wishes of the reader.

A reader named David called it Port when he suggested I take a look at it.

So that’s what I did!

I went to my local liquor store, picked up the vintage 2016 and now I’m happy to give you this review!

First of all, the bottle itself did not look like a normal wine bottle found on the shelves.

As you can see on the picture above, it is similar to the current appearance of the small bottles of Bourbon.

Some kind of delicate marketing!

The wine was poured into the black-violet glass.

It’s very dark!

The legs fell slowly and quite thick.

Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was see if the wine had a bourbon aroma.

That didn’t happen, and I was happy with it.  I snorted some ripe bourbon wines that really set your nose on fire!

Speaking of the nose: The dominant notes were Fig Newton biscuits, black cherries and a hint of spices.

A nice, very small alcohol burn, which was surprising considering the contents.

Alcohol content by volume of Cooper and Thief Red Blend 16,0 % per bottle.

Hey, that’s pretty high!

The mix of Taste, Cooper and Thief Red is quite sweet and fragrant.

The flavors are best described as maple bourbon with a vanilla topping, with a black cherry and a very ripe plum.

You have to be careful with this kind of wine because it flows so well and so fast.

16% alcohol will overtake you, so be ready!

Sneeze and tanning in the mouth

With this wine we get a very silky mouth and few tannins.

The aftertaste is quite persistent and it is the flavours that prevail over the tannins.

General conclusion

In general, this wine is a bomb with the taste of jam!  Charming and super decadent.

But if you’re more of a red wine purist, I think this wine will be too sweet.

And I have to say that David (the reader who suggested to try this) was there.

He said it was some kind of port, and I think that’s an excellent description.

Copper and thief red mingle at $27.99.

Food packaging

It’s a little complicated when it comes to suggesting a couple.

I’d say it’s probably best to drink alone first.

But I also tried barbecue ribs with a mild smoked sauce.
