Addition of new wines with the most important anniversaries to the stock Asheville, N.C., 7. December 2020. – The Biltmore Winery, located in the Asheville, N.C. winery, achieved the best sales results during the whole Cybermond day. E-commerce played a crucial role in the economy in 2020, with significant growth in online sales during the year. In addition to this success, Biltmore Winery is introducing two new wines, available through an online store, which will celebrate an important anniversary in 2020: the 35th anniversary of the winery and the 125th anniversary of the winery. Biltmore Wines Vice President, winemaker Sharon Fenchak and her team created these special wines that bear the legacy of the hospitality and independent trade so important to Biltmore founder George Vanderbilt.

The Biltmore Winery plays a unique role in Biltmore’s vast commercial ecosystem, and is an important factor in linking a property to its founding goals. The activity generated by the wine programme in these unprecedented times has helped offset the impact on other areas. This Cybermond on the Biltmore had the highest daily turnover of all day – +50% per year. In the past 12 months, online sales of Biltmore wines have increased by 219 percent, while growth from April to November was 317 percent. Heather Jordan, Senior Director of Marketing and Sales, attributes this growth to a renowned e-commerce company combined with more digital communication on our part. We are convinced that the demand for online purchase of our wines will remain high in the future.

Although the winery received its first visitors in December 1895, it was not until 1985 that the Biltmore winery opened its doors to visitors. The cellar was a natural extension of George Vanderbilt’s agricultural heritage. Today, the winery continues to manage the land while diversifying Biltmore’s activities. Every bottle of wine gives our guests the chance to experience and share the legendary hospitality of the Biltmore, says Heather Jordan. Today the Biltmore Vineyards are located on the west side of the estate in Asheville, North Carolina, where they specialize in Chardonnay, Cabernet French, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. They also work with a growing number of partners in other parts of the American continent.

The festive wines made by winemaker Sharon Fenchak in recognition of these anniversaries are a fitting tribute to the extent to which this visionary winemaking project for Biltmore has borne fruit. Grapes for the 35th. The Anniversary Chardonnays ($35 SRP) were selected from specific clones grown on the Biltmore Estate vineyards in Ashville. The wine is fermented and aged in barrels, giving it a greasy and creamy texture with hints of Meyer lemon and custard. The 125 year old Biltmore Estate® is a tribute to the legendary hospitality and entertainment of George Vanderbilt and is made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and vinified in the traditional way. A bouquet of tangerines, yeast and honey is complemented by delicious strawberry and mint aromas ($40 SRP).

All Biltmore wines are available through the Biltmore online store, the Vanderbilt Wine Club and a three-way distribution network in 19 states.
