The former Napa Heritage School is home to a new school for the 21st century. Century

Napa Valley, CA – 1. February 2021 – Rooted in the tradition of early Napa winemaking, Bill Davis is launching an exciting new line of wines that recall his family’s history with Schramsberg.

Bill Davis was born into the wine business as the first son of Jack and Jamie Davis. They founded Schramsberg in the mid 1960s, at a time when conviviality and intimacy brought together family, friends and even strangers. Bill combined the best of the times with a 21st century approach. Century to offer a playful wine. With a light and agile infrastructure, Bill Billy Dee and Rumble produce wines with unique varietals from vineyards in Northern California in a custom-built facility.

Bill’s two new brands, Billy D and Ramble, are innovative and ambitious brands that reflect the values of Bill’s childhood in the Napa Valley, when the community was small and relatively rural and almost all winemakers were entrepreneurs experimenting and producing wines spontaneously. Bill Davis lived it then and practices it now. Continuing the chain of generations, Billy Dee and Rumble incorporates elements of the family’s kitchen cabinet nomenclature – including his daughter Abby, who designed the wine labels and collaborated on branding and vision, and his son Jack as a goldsmith and general counsel.

Billy D wines include Mountain Barbera, French Columbard and Daydreamer Rosé in a screw cap at an affordable price. The logo, a goat, alludes to Bill’s dedication to old trends while creating new ones. These wines exude a fun and relaxed attitude, the wines are lively and tasty, good juices, never overpowering, notes Davis. We offer them in the 500 ml Travel-Light jar and the 1000 ml Good n Plenty jar. These are dry quality wines that taste better than they are worth.

Ramble offers bright, low-alcohol products made with certified organic fruit from 70- to 100-year-old dry fruit vines. With a view to environmental sustainability, the wines are produced in 750 ml, with ultra-light glass and fully recyclable vegetable cork. The tour includes bottles of 2019 Chenin Blanc, Valdiguié Rosé and Carignan. The small Sirah, Charbono and Barbera have been milled and fermented for a future release in 2020. Like good food, the best flavors in wine come from pure ingredients that have the right to express themselves, Bill says. I want to do something tangible and beautiful that gives a sense of belonging.

About Billy Dee’s wines

Unlike the norm, Billy D and Ramble wines are affordable, everyday wines made from lost and found grape varieties such as Valdiguié, French Colombard, Carignan and many others. Believing that wine should be both tasty and fun, Billy D wines are bottled in 500ml and 1000ml glasses with screwcaps, while Ramble wines use an ultra-lightweight glass and a fully recyclable condiment cap. It’s Billy Dee’s fault: Drink up. I love it. Shake it off.
